Welcome to Pandas
We hope that you have had a lovely half term with your children. This term Mrs Hookham will be teaching Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Miss Rowlands will be teaching Thursday and Friday. Teaching assistants are Mrs Kilbee, Miss Thorpe and Mrs Mahoney.
This term we will be learning about the topic, ‘Twinkle, Twinkle’. The children will be able to access a variety of activities which are based on learning through plan. Please see the topic plan attached for more detail.
Food and Drink
Please ensure your child has a water bottle in school. They are able to access this throughout the day at any time and we will refill it if required. The children are given a piece of fruit each day. Your child is also welcome to bring in a piece of fruit from home if they would prefer. For lunch they can have a free school meal or packed lunch.
Please try to read with your child each evening. We are happy to change your child’s book for them. Please leave it in the book box by the front of the classroom. It will then be changed for the end of the day. Mrs Hookham, Miss Rowlands or Mrs Kilbee will listen to your child read once a week.
The children are learning letters from the alphabet. So far they have learnt S,A,T, P,I,N, M and D. We are encouraging the children to think about the sound a word begins with and which sounds are in those words, therefore using a phonetic approach. We encourage children to write the sounds, writing labels and captions.
We do find that the children get engaged in activities and can have accidents. They are reminded and asked to go to the toilet regularly. We do have spare clothes for them to change into. Can we please have the items washed and returned?
Please bring P.E. kits in on Monday and leave in school. P.E. lessons are usually Monday and Friday but time to time this does change.
This term we run two nights for parents evening The week before there will be sheets in the front entrance of the school where you can sign up for a slot. Mrs Hookham and Miss Rowlands will run the parents evenings together.
We hope that everyone is able to access Tapestry and that you have enjoyed seeing all the things your child does in school. They are so busy! Please let us know if you are having any difficulties and we will try to fix them.
This term the children take part in the Nativity. Nearer the time we will ask for assistance with costumes and the date will be given for you to come and watch.
