Athletics Event - Year 6

On Friday 29th November, the Giraffes class took part in an athletics tournament. Here are some of the newspaper reports written by the class from the day.

Awesome Athletics

Last Friday, in Giraffes (year 6) we all went to Saint Helen Saint Katherine to do an athletics competition. We went there in our parents’ cars and when we got there, we all met together. We were kindly greeted by one of the staff and they took us upstairs to put our coats and bags down. When we finally got into the hall there were five schools including Saint Helen and Saint Katherine themselves. In the morning, the activities we did were field events, and it was a round robin in a really big sports hall. Some of the field sports where javelin, chest through and long jump. At 12:00 we had lunch and then we enjoyed playing in the hall with the other schools. We made some new friends. In the afternoon it was races and we split into groups. Two groups did all the races and some did just two. There were three types of races: obstacle race, two lap relay and one lap relay. We came first seven times! At the end they announced the winners and we won! It was a really fun day.
