Battle of the Books
Battle of the Books!
Miss Williams and the children in year one have found an exciting way to engage with and encourage reading-their weekly ‘Battle of the Books’.
Each week they read two books as a class and decide which one is the best. Every book that enters the competition is linked to their topic on the Weather (see the class page on our website for more details on the topic).
The discussions that take place in class encourage debate, forming a preference and offers lots of opportunity for book talk (plot, characters, feelings etc).
Each winning book continues towards the final show down…which one will win this term…?
