The Romans

Last term, our topic was Romans. We really enjoyed this topic and especially making Roman shields. One of the Romans most famous formations was the Tortoise (testudo). Testudo is the Latin word for "tortoise". It was used to protect the soldiers from attack. The soldiers in front and sides interlocked their shields and the soldiers in the back lines placed their shields over their heads to form a protective "shell" over top of the men.

We also had a Roman Day when we dressed up as Romans and took part in some activities as well as tasting some food.
