Safeguarding
Safeguarding is everybody’s responsibility.
Marcham CE Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We acknowledge the document, “Keeping Children Safe in Education” (September 2023) as key to our approach and recognise the government’s Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism. We also have rigorous procedures in place for the recruitment of staff.
We take these responsibilities seriously.
We have a number of documents in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our policy. Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about a pupil are discussed with his/her parents or carers first unless we have a reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.
Our Designated Safeguarding Leads are Miss Priddle, Mrs Callahan and Mrs Jefferies.

Safeguarding Audit – June 2025
In June 2025, Marcham School commissioned an external Safeguarding Audit to ensure full compliance with statutory safeguarding requirements and to review the effectiveness of the school’s safeguarding practices.
The audit confirmed that Marcham School has robust and effective safeguarding structures in place and is fully compliant with all statutory duties. The findings highlighted a strong safeguarding culture across the school, where the safety and wellbeing of all children is clearly prioritised.
The auditor noted that safeguarding is taken seriously at all levels and that Marcham School provides a safe and supportive environment for all pupils.
