Our School Vision

Living and learning with Faith, Community and Hope

At Marcham School, our vision is:

However, it is encapsulated in this short phrase:

Living and learning with Faith, Community and Hope.

Rooted in the story of Noah’s Ark, our vision is embedded in this biblical account.

Noah had faith in God, who had told him to build the ark. It took decades to build and there was much ridicule from those around him but he was courageous and his faith remained strong.

Like Noah, we commit ourselves, to exercise faith. With faith in ourselves, we will achieve beyond our expectations. With faith in each other, we do the right things for the right reasons and for those of us with a faith in God, all things are possible.

As God had asked, Noah gathered two of each kind of animal into the ark. The community of the ark must have been a curious sight, with animals living together who would normally be prey and predator. Tigers and leopards would not usually get on with giraffes or meerkats – but on the ark they did.

As a school community we want everyone to feel that they matter and they belong. All our classes have animal names, and in the image above (which is painted on our school wall), we are all in the ark. The door is open invitationally. We are all different but we are motivated to work and live together through our school’s Christian values for the benefit of everyone and for the common good.

At the end of the story, God promised not to flood the earth again and set a rainbow as a symbol of hope.

We, at Marcham, want to work to contribute positively to the future. In all we do, our hope is to make the world a better place.

So, there you have it: Living and learning with Faith, Community and Hope. It’s what we are all about…

Have a look at our PowerPoint presentation to see how it all fits together.

Also look at  'Living our Vision' document to see what it looks like in practice.

On 19th April 2024, we had whole school "Vision Day", where we looked at the story of Noah's Ark. We played animal games, made up animal songs, danced and sang to "We're all in this together" made arks and thought about where our Values could be seen in the story and also thought about our future.

Have a look at some of the things we did and read what some of our children said about it.
