"Living and learning with Faith, Community and Hope"

A day through time

On Thursday 15th January 2026, we had our own immersive day. We were acting through the ages of Victorian, WW1 and WW2. Children dressed up as chimney sweeps, evacuees and workers during this time.

During the day we focused on the 3 R’s which included Reading, wRiting and aRithmetic. We wrote the National anthem up. Learnt times tables by rote and wrote postcards home to our families. All while the teachers acted just like the Victorian teachers...

We looked at propaganda posters from the time and created our own with our own slogans.

Finally, we looked at rations and how much food all the people were allowed. We then created some recipes from the time – including carrot biscuits, rock cakes, oat cookies and we tried some ‘banana sandwiches’ which were made with parsnips instead of bananas!

It was a brilliant day full of learning and excitement.
